Gender, place, and agricultural extension: a mixed-methods approach to understand farmer needs in Liberia

Purpose This study explores the intersection of gender and place with agricultural extension services to understand disparities in resource information access build community resilience post-conflict Liberia. It emphasizes how such intersections may be further compounded by climate change provides possible solutions.Methodology Using a community-based research approach, 352 surveys 44 focus groups were conducted 22 communities 3 counties north-central Subsequently, qualitative, quantitative, spatial analyses done explore place-based differences farmer resources household agency.Findings Study results show that women farmers have less technology, information; higher, combined productive domestic, labor burdens; both genders want more female officers.Practical Implications critical data help effectively target limited expenditures on national smallholder settings.
